About Me
Maya Ontiveros, M.A., LPC
Hello! My name is Maya Ontiveros and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), born in New York and raised in Texas. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at San Antonio and my Master’s degree in Applied Psychology from New York University. I am a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. I have worked in both out-patient and in-patient care settings providing direct individual, couples, and family therapy. I strive to provide quality trauma-informed counseling that serves adults, adolescents, families, and couples who struggle with mental illness.
I specialize in treating eating disorders in teens and young adults, but I have also worked extensively in treating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, LGBTQIA+ issues, and more. Through evidence-based techniques, I help clients unlock their emotions, face their fears, build confidence, and renew their sense of identity. Together, we will discover your motivation and strength to effect real, long-term change. Therapy doesn't have to be scary, reaching out is the hardest part. So give yourself a pat on the back and congratulations on taking the first step!
I look forward to starting this journey with you! A little bit about me outside of the office: I enjoy spending my free time reading books, hiking, painting, and relaxing with my family and my orange cat, Icky.
What Is Therapy?

Trauma
